Will I get a diagnosis or be qualified for services if I get evaluated?
Psychological testing does not guarantee:
- A diagnosis will be received.
- A client will qualify to receive accommodation.
- A client will qualify to receive services.
Do you provide neurological evaluations?
- No. PPS only provides psychological evaluations. A psychological evaluation is an overall assessment that examines emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning and assesses personality and psychopathology as needed. A neuropsychological evaluation evaluates for neurological, medical, neurodevelopmental, psychiatric, and cognitive deficits or conditions.
- Depending on your reason for the requested evaluation, PPS may be able to assist you with neurological concerns since some types of neuropsychological assessments are administered as a part of the evaluation process. PPS can assess for neurodevelopment disorders such as autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. If you are searching for an evaluation to look at specific aspects of brain and behavior relationships or cognitive areas of the brain (e.g., deficits in functioning related to a birth condition, traumatic brain injury, Tourette’s syndrome, etc.) then a neuropsychological evaluation will be more appropriate.
Do you accept insurance?
Prudent Psychological Services (PPS) accepts Medicaid, and Premera insurance.
An itemized receipt with the relevant CPT codes and ICD-10 diagnosis codes will be provided at the end of the evaluation process and can be submitted to your insurance for possible reimbursement for out of network insurances.
Please verify with your insurance to determine what out-of-network benefits you may have.
Can I do a payment plan?
Psychological testing can be expensive and difficult to pay all at once. Please do not hesitate to ask if PPS can accommodate your needs.
Payment plans are available, but please note that payment must be received in full prior to the completion and release of the testing report.
Do you provide court-ordered evaluation services?
No. PPS does not provide court-ordered or court-involved evaluations. This also includes child custody and parenting evaluations.
Why are evaluations more costly than therapy?
Psychological evaluations typically consist of multiple appointments longer than a one-hour therapy session. The evaluation process can take 15 to 20 hours on average to complete. The times spent include in-person sessions (but not limited to) records review, scoring and interpreting the assessments, consulting with other psychologists, and writing the report.
Can I speak to you first before scheduling an appointment?
Yes. It is important to hear an overview of the client’s concerns and symptoms to ensure that their questions can be adequately answered through the types of testing services offered and determine the appropriate flat fee testing cost (if out of pocket). The assessment process and test selection are customized to the client’s reported concerns.
The phone consultation is also your chance to learn what to expect in the evaluation, ask questions, and develop comfort with the clinician conducting your evaluation. It is important that you feel heard, that your concerns are understood, and your clinician will be a good fit for you/your child.
